Why the Apple iPhone X/Xs Credit Card Wallet Phone Case in Black Is Essential for Minimalist Commuters and Weekend Athletes

Wallet, phone, keys — the eternal pocket inventory. This case retires one of them. The Apple iPhone X/Xs Credit Card Wallet Phone Case in Black wraps your iPhone X (2017) or iPhone Xs (2018) — both with the 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED display — in a two-layer shockproof shell with a hidden slide-back card pocket tucked between the layers. Slip in 2–3 cards and a folded bill, slide the glossy back closed, and walk out the door carrying exactly one thing. The soft silicone inner layer cushions hard impacts while the rigid polycarbonate outer shell takes the hit, making this one of the most protective slim cases we offer. Built for minimalist commuters, gym regulars, runners, travelers, and anyone who has paid a bar tab with a phone-and-card combo, this is the best iPhone X wallet case for going light without going unprotected. Welcome to the Gorilla Family.

Key Features

  • Sleek black finish: a glossy black outer shell that reads professional in the office and wipes clean after the gym.
  • Premium materials: a soft silicone rubber inner layer for shock cushioning and a hard polycarbonate outer shell with a sliding back panel.
  • Case type: slim dual-layer hybrid wallet case — no bulky folio cover, no magnetic flap, just a hidden pocket inside the armor.
  • Hidden card pocket: the slide-back compartment sits between the two layers, holding 2–3 cards with folded cash, or 1–2 embossed credit cards.
  • Slide-back access: thumb the back panel open to grab your card at the register, snap it shut, done — no peeling covers or fighting elastic.
  • Screen protection: a raised front lip keeps the 5.8-inch OLED off tables and bar tops when the phone lies face-down.
  • Camera protection: a raised bezel rings the dual 12 MP camera bump, and the layered build is rated for drops of 10 ft / 3 m.
  • Shockproof and dirt-resistant: the PC-plus-silicone build is made for sports, trails, and job sites — grit stays out of the pocket too.
  • Charging compatibility: Lightning cable charging works with the case on; Qi wireless charging works only after you remove the cards from the pocket, and this is not a magnetic case and does not add MagSafe.
  • Bonus stylus pen included: every order ships with a capacitive stylus pen (color random) — handy for signatures and cold-weather scrolling.
  • Compatibility: fits the Apple iPhone X (2017) and iPhone Xs (2018, 5.8-inch) ONLY. It does NOT fit the iPhone XR, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, or iPhone 11 and later.

Materials Explained — What Polycarbonate and Silicone Actually Feel Like

The outer shell is polycarbonate — the rigid, glossy, impact-spreading plastic trusted in bike helmets and aircraft cockpit windows. It forms the hard exterior, the sliding back door, and the structure that keeps your cards flat and protected even when the phone takes a corner hit.

Inside is a silicone rubber sleeve, soft and slightly grippy like the seal on a dive mask. It cushions the phone the way running shoe soles cushion a heel strike, absorbing the shock of a drop before it can ring through the chassis — and it doubles as a smooth lining for the card pocket so your cards slide in without scratching.

Together the layers weigh about 2.5 oz (70 g) and add roughly 2.5 mm of thickness — with cards aboard, the whole package is still dramatically slimmer than a phone plus a billfold, which is the entire point.

Real-World Use Cases

  • The Minimalist Commuter: transit card and debit card live in the back of the phone — one pocket, one item, zero rummaging at the turnstile.
  • The Gym Regular: membership card and ID stay sealed behind the slide panel while the silicone layer eats the bench-drop everyone eventually commits.
  • The Runner: heads out with phone, card, and house key cash — no armband bounce, no wallet bulge in the shorts.
  • The Traveler: hotel key card and one credit card ride in the phone, leaving the real wallet in the room safe.
  • The Gift-Giver: a practical upgrade for the iPhone X loyalist who still carries a fraying bifold everywhere.

Feature-to-Benefit Mapping

Feature Benefit
Hidden slide-back card pocket Carries 2–3 cards plus cash invisibly — thieves and pickpockets see only a phone case
Dual-layer PC + silicone build Rated for 10 ft / 3 m drops — sports, stairs, and parking lots stop being card-scattering events
Slim 2.5 mm, 2.5 oz / 70 g profile Phone plus wallet in less pocket space than a phone plus nothing used to take
Raised screen and camera lips Face-down landings touch case plastic, not the OLED or the lenses
Included capacitive stylus Sign receipts and scroll in gloves without fingerprinting the screen

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

  1. Clean your iPhone X or Xs with a microfiber cloth so no grit gets pressed between the silicone layer and the glass back.
  2. Seat the phone into the soft silicone inner sleeve, aligning the button covers with power and volume.
  3. Snap the hard polycarbonate shell over the silicone, pressing the corners first and then the edges until everything sits flush.
  4. Slide the back panel open, load 2–3 cards (put the one you tap most on top), add a folded bill if you like, and slide it firmly shut.
  5. Test the buttons, Lightning port, speakers, and Face ID, then practice the slide-open motion a few times — it loosens to one-thumb smooth quickly.

Troubleshooting and Tips

  • Slide panel stiff at first? That is deliberate — a tight track keeps cards secure. It breaks in to a smooth one-thumb slide within the first week.
  • Cards rattle with only one inside? Add a folded bill or a second card as a shim; the pocket is tensioned for a 2–3 card stack.
  • Wireless charger not working? Remove the cards first — metal and chipped cards block Qi charging and can be damaged by the coil. Cable charging works anytime.
  • Embossed card sits proud? Heavily embossed cards count double — carry 1–2 of those instead of 3 flat-printed ones.
  • Cleaning the case? Pop the phone out monthly and wash both layers with mild soap and water. Avoid alcohol wipes on the glossy shell — they dull the finish over time.

FAQs

Which phones does this case fit?
It fits the Apple iPhone X (2017) and iPhone Xs (2018), which share the same 5.8-inch body. It does NOT fit the iPhone XR, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, or any iPhone 11 or newer.

What comes in the box?
One card pocket slim hybrid shockproof case with sliding back cover, plus a free capacitive stylus pen in a random color.

How many cards does it hold?
The hidden pocket holds 2–3 standard cards with a folded bill at maximum, or 1–2 embossed credit cards. It is tensioned for a small stack, not a full wallet.

Does wireless charging work with cards inserted?
No — remove the cards before placing the phone on a Qi pad; metal and chip cards block charging and can be harmed by the coil. Cable charging works with cards in place. This is not a magnetic case and does not add MagSafe.

What is the drop protection rating?
The dual-layer silicone-plus-polycarbonate build is rated for drops of 10 ft / 3 m onto hard surfaces — it is the most protective slim wallet design we make.

Does Face ID still work?
Yes — the case leaves the notch and front sensors completely clear, so Face ID unlocks exactly as fast as without a case.

Are buttons and ports accessible?
Yes — responsive covers protect power and volume, while the Lightning port, speakers, and microphones stay fully open. No need to remove the case for anything.

Can my cards fall out?
Not in normal use — the slide-back panel physically locks the pocket shut, so cards survive drops, sprints, and upside-down couch time.

Will the case protect my cards too?
Yes — cards sit flat between the silicone and the hard shell, shielded from bending and scratching better than in most back pockets.

Can I use a screen protector with it?
Yes — the case pairs perfectly with our iPhone X tempered glass protectors; the raised lip clears the glass with no corner lift.

Will the glossy black yellow or fade?
No — the shell is pigmented black through and through, so it keeps its finish where clear cases would amber.

Is it professional enough for work?
Very — from the front and sides it looks like a standard slim black case; the wallet trick stays your secret until the bar tab arrives.

Is this a good gift?
It is a favorite — practical, under $25, with a bonus stylus in the box, and free 30-day returns if the recipient's phone turns out to be an XR.

What is the stylus pen for?
It is a capacitive stylus that works on any touchscreen — signatures, sketching, and winter-glove scrolling. Color ships random.

What is the return policy?
Yes — Gorilla Cases offers free 30-day returns on all iPhone X cases. If the case doesn't fit your iPhone X or you're not satisfied, contact our team within 30 days for a fast replacement or full refund. No restocking fees.

The Only Charger You’ll Ever Need!
The Anker 735 Charger (GaNPrime 65W) is a total game-changer for anyone tired of carrying multiple "bricks" for their laptop, phone, and earbuds. It packs a massive amount of power into a surprisingly small, foldable design. What I liked: True All-in-One: With two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, it can fast-charge a MacBook Air, an iPhone, and AirPods all at the same time. Intelligent Power Allocation: It uses PowerIQ 4.0 technology, which automatically detects the power needs of each connected device and adjusts the output in real-time for the fastest possible charge. Ultra-Compact: Thanks to GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology, it is about 53% smaller than a standard 67W laptop charger. The foldable plug makes it perfect for tossing into a travel bag or pocket. ActiveShield 2.0: I really appreciate the peace of mind that comes with its advanced temperature monitoring, which checks the heat over 3 million times a day to protect your expensive devices. Note: To get the full 65W speed for your laptop, make sure you are using a high-quality USB-C cable rated for 100W! Whether you’re working from a coffee shop or traveling internationally, this is the most reliable and efficient charging block on the market. It’s a bit of an investment, but the build quality and convenience are worth every cent.

The 65W version is just as solid as the 47W I already own
I bought the 47W Anker Nano charger a while back and loved it, so when I needed a bit more power I grabbed this 65W version. Honestly, the experience is almost identical - which is exactly what I was hoping for. Same compact puck design, same foldable prongs that make it perfect for travel, same Anker reliability. I've been using it with my Samsung Z Flip 7 and it charges incredibly fast on fast charge mode. The phone recognizes it immediately and you can watch the percentage climb. But what I really appreciate about stepping up to the 65W model is the extra headroom. When I need to charge my laptop or other more demanding devices, this charger handles them without breaking a sweat. The 47W is great for phones and smaller tablets, but having that extra wattage gives me more flexibility. The folding prongs continue to be one of my favorite features. It's such a simple thing but makes a huge difference when you're tossing it in a bag. No snagging, no scratching other items. The size is still impressively small for the amount of power it delivers. This is one of those products that just works. No fuss, no weird charging issues, just plug it in and go. If you already have the 47W version and need more power, this is a no-brainer upgrade. If you're choosing between the two, I'd say go with the 65W unless you're absolutely certain you'll only ever charge phones and tablets. The peace of mind of having extra power available is worth it.

Great low cost USB C to 4K HDMI splitter adaptor
Color: Black
The Anker USB C Hub 5-in-1 USBC to HDMI splitter with 4K display with one powered USB c and 2 USB A ports works flawlessly and is a perfect travel companion or simple and inexpensive desktop dock to connect a moderan USB C only laptop to a large monitor up to 4K resolution. It supports 4K at 60 Hz so not for high speed gaming but it is flicker free for daily work where running at 60 Hz provides a clean looking 4K display. The USB C and USB A ports work perfectly. I already have four of these in different port configuration but wanted the 4K extension for travel and this was the best one for quality and bang for the buck.

Compact, Travel friendly, Works well with ROG ALLY
Color: White
This is a compact and well built adapter, and it is travel friendly. I use it for my ROG ALLY when I don’t want it docked and still need charging and other device inputs. It has just about enough ports for what I need, usb-c power delivery port for charging (ROG ALLY can still run at maximum performance using this with a 100W charging brick and a cable that allows 100W power pass through). I use the remaining USB-C port and two USB-A ports for external hard drives or gaming controller 2.4Ghz receiver. Transferring files between ROG ALLY and an external SSD with this adapter is fast, could reach above 380 mb/s. All the device inputs were as advertised, “plug and play”. The hdmi port also gives me an option to connect my ROG ALLY to TV when I don’t have the dock which takes up more space for traveling. One thing to note, you will have to use the USB-C port on your PC which provides more power (usually at the back and not on the front of the pc), if not plugged in to a power source. When I received my first order, I plugged it into the front USB-C port of my mini PC, just for my wired keyboard and mouse, the computer didn’t recognize it and couldn’t get any input from my keyboard and mouse. I returned the first one and thought it wouldn’t work as I expected. A few days later when I was using another Anker 7 in 1 USB-C adapter, I ran into the same issue but I know that adapter had been working well, then I realized I had to plug it into the port on the back of the PC. So I got this again and tried, it just worked like a charm. Hope they actually mentioned it on their product page so I wouldn’t have to return the first one. The cable length on this adapter is just right, not too long or too short when using with ROG ALLY (not hanging, since the cable is pretty sturdy, when I picked up the ROG ALLY, the adapter just comes along).

Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1): The Swiss Army Knife of Connectivity
Color: Black
Ever felt like your laptop was playing a cruel joke on you with its lack of ports? Enter the Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1)—the tech equivalent of a superhero swooping in to save the day (and your productivity). Port Party This hub is like the ultimate party host: it’s got a little something for everyone. Need to connect an external monitor? Boom, there’s a 4K HDMI port. Want to transfer files faster than a cheetah on a caffeine rush? It’s got two 5 Gbps USB-A ports and a 5 Gbps USB-C data port ready to go. Oh, and don’t worry about keeping your laptop charged while you’re multitasking like a boss—there’s a 100W PD-IN port to keep the power flowing. 4K HDMI: Because Why Settle for Less? Let’s talk about that HDMI port, shall we? We’re talking 4K at 30Hz, which means your Netflix binge or work presentation will look crisp, clean, and oh-so-satisfying. It’s like upgrading from VHS to Blu-ray—you won’t believe you ever survived without it. File Transfers in a Flash Remember the days when transferring files felt like waiting for dial-up internet to connect? Yeah, those days are over. With up to 5 Gbps transfer speeds, you can move files so fast that you’ll barely have time to grab your coffee before it’s done. Just think of all the time you’ll save—and how much more you can procrastinate as a result! Pass-Through Charging: Power Up, Don’t Power Down One of the worst feelings in the tech world is watching your battery icon turn red while you’re in the middle of something important. But fear not—this hub’s got you covered with up to 85W pass-through charging. So, go ahead and keep doing whatever it is you’re doing, whether it’s crushing deadlines or browsing cat memes (no judgment here). Compact and Reliable The Anker 332 USB-C Hub is compact enough to slip into your laptop bag without a second thought. And with an 18-month worry-free warranty, it’s clear that Anker has your back—just in case you get a little too enthusiastic with all those ports. Final Thought In a world where laptops keep losing ports faster than you lose socks in the laundry, the Anker 332 USB-C Hub is the perfect solution. It’s reliable, versatile, and just what you need to bring your laptop back to life. So go ahead—plug in, power up, and let the good times (and files) roll!
